Detective McNeil will demonstrate how understanding victims will greatly aid the service provider in getting victims the help they deserve. Getting the abuse to stop is just the beginning of the healing process. Many victims, particularly abuse victims, find it difficult to operate in the world. The effects of trauma cause victims to look at the world as a dangerous place. This workshop will show attendees how to build a team around the victim and help them reestablish their trust in themselves and the world at large. The attendee will also learn why educating the public on abuse increases support for the victim.
